Theres Always Time for A Good Book!
There's always time for a good book. And listed in no particular order are some good books I suggest you pick up for your reading pleasure. Of course I can't possibly name them all... But here's a few to start with...
Consequences by Linda R. Herman
... Do you know you can be effected by HIV even if you DON"T sleep around... This is more then an awareness read, this book may save your life, or the life of someone you love!
Family...Secrets, Lies & Alibis by Nanette Buchanan
...If you think what you don't know can't hurt you...think again! The secrets that were once kept hidden from you can be the one's to end up ruining your life...
Also pick up the sequel, A Different Kind of Love!
I'm currently in the middle of reading this piece right now and without giving the story away I will atest that this is just a well written fiction piece which I am sure will have a fitting ending. Three not one but thre successful Jersey girls working towards bettering themselves and letting nothing stand in their way are faced with some reality wake ups that wil surely hold any readers interest. I can't wait to finish this book and it's already earned 3 out of 4 stars on my behalf thus far. ;-)
The Soul of A Man~ Anthology by Peace In The Storm Publishing. I especially enjoyed the contributions from Joey Pinkey, Jihad, Alvin C. Romer, Brian Ganges and "Buba Simba." This was an uplifting and insightful read that I'm sure many will enjoy.
Divided Soul, The Life of Marvin Gay... Besides my own biography which is refreshingly candid and grasping, this has to be my all time favorite. The life this man lived, the wonders he experienced, the way his own life inspired most of his music and the trials and tribulations he endured while building his career and trying to maintain his marriages... Hands down.. BRAVO!
Michelle Larks is such a talented author, anyting she composes get's added to my list. I always enjoy her works and end up gaining a little someting from them in the end... As far as Christian Lit writers, she is truly among the top 5!
Malcolm X on Afro American History, By Malcolm X... Okay, I will admit, I am a bit bias when it comes to this man... But it's with good reason and this book alone supports my feelings. If you haven't read it, please do so. Pick it up when you can and take the time to let the words sink in. It is truly a inspiring read, one that will remove most if not all smoke screens. Regardless of your nation, truth is absolute and this book should never go out of print!
Author/Publisher Elissa Gabrielle takes readers from A Whisper to A Scream then back again with her latest release titled, A Whisper to a Scream... I had the pleasure of reading the review copy and I still want to get the book-book once it comes out in September 2009. Nominated Independent Publisher of the Year 2009, I'm sure you will be more then pleased with this Good Read. Drama, compassion, revelations and so much more...
Denver, CO has a force to be reckoned with and her name is Tinisha N. Johnson! Ms. Johnson is back once again and this time, with works that will simply blanket women to gether on one accord. Her latest title, Lessons Learned, Loving Yourself As A Black Woman is Supurb! I can vouch for it because I've had the privlidge of reading the first sample chapter. I am more then sure once this book hits the streets, it will indeed help change the lives of many others...
Chyle Pleaze by Vee-Lavoira. The title alone can suggest so much, but the authors message is this... Even when the Drama never ends, at the end of the day, God is still there.... I really have to do some heavy reading, because the title alone has me itching to do a review... ;-)
Not too many words are needed. The title says it all. Either you are one who will have an interest or not. However make no mistake, the author has done his homework. He's checked and double checked to ensure what he conveys is fact and leaves nothing to question. I suggest it for anyone, especially Blacks who believe they are studying Black History in absolute truth.
The Destruction of Black Civilization by Chancelor Williams. Pick it up, you may learn something...
Par for the Curse by Toyi Ward
...Are curses and spells effective on individuals because of those who cast them on them, or because they believe too much into them... A Par for the curse... A very entertaining read!
Pay Back With Ya Life by fellow Jersey Girl
Wahida Clark.
...For readers who enjoy Urban Lit, who better to start with then Trenton's own Wahida Clark. Her titles state the premis for her works and the joy ride will leave you gasping for me. A very entertaining read. As for me, I don't want to payback anyone with my life, though when you play the game, you should expect to play a high price for holding the cards.
